He is expected to join the Whites from Fortuna Düsseldorf in a deal worth £3.4million.

Ao Tanaka set to join Leeds United from Fortuna Düsseldorf

This is a huge update for Daniel Farke and Leeds supporters.

Fans of the club across West Yorkshire will be thrilled to wake up to this very exciting news. It was clear that a brand-new midfielder was necessary at Elland Road

After losing Archie Gray, Glen Kamara and Georginio Rutter, Farke had been left a bit light in the middle of the park. And, if the club are going to make another promotion push, bodies in that area are needed.

Therefore, the news that Tanaka will undergo his medical at Elland Road on Thursday will be welcomed by Farke and his coaching staff.

While a deal isn’t yet official, it looks as though this transfer is as good as confirmed.

As a result, Farke can start planning for the season with Tanaka in mind. The Japan international is an experienced player who has scored eight times for his country at senior level.

And Leeds fans will hope he can bring some of that form with him to Elland Road.

In other Leeds United news, the club are reluctant to sanction one last-minute exit.
