‘Anton Stach transfer next’ as update emerges after Longstaff deal at Leeds

Leeds have now confirmed the signing of Sean Longstaff from Newcastle United.

Longstaff has signed a four-year deal with the Whites, becoming the fifth signing of the summer, and there are more to follow at Elland Road.

Leeds have strengthened their midfield options with the 27-year-old, and now want to further add to their options in the middle of the park.

Hoffenheim star Anton Stach has been targeted alongside Longstaff, and there is now a positive update over the pursuit of the Germany international.

Leeds advance in talks for Stach

Leeds have moved relatively slowly in the transfer market, particularly compared to Sunderland, but Stach would be a statement signing for Daniel Farke.

The 26-year-old is a versatile central midfielder who can play in a variety of roles, and could line up in a trio alongside Longstaff and Ao Tanaka.

While Besiktas are also rumoured to be keen on Stach, Leeds have now been handed fresh hope over a deal by Beren Cross.

Cross has now reported that with Longstaff done, Stach could be the next arrival at Elland Road, with personal terms not expected to be an issue, while club-to-club talks with Hoffenheim are the “furthest along” out of any possible deal.

Leeds need attacking signings next

Leeds have now strengthened their defence with three new signings, and Stach could be the second arrival in midfield after Longstaff.

However, the biggest concerns have not yet been addressed with pre-season beginning, as a new goalkeeper and multiple attackers are still needed.

Feyenoord’s Igor Paixao has been linked, but if Leeds are to survive in the Premier League, they will need to sign a proven striker.

Fulham’s Rodrigo Muniz is a target, but any big-money deal for a centre-forward could take time to complete, and Leeds need to bring someone in as soon as possible.

Completing five signings before pre-season games is a positive, and all will need time to adapt to their new surroundings, but Leeds need to hit the ground running and keep up their momentum from the end of last season.

Longstaff will arrive with plenty of Premier League experience under his belt, and perhaps another proven option is needed at both ends of the pitch.
