Anton Stach reacts to Leeds transfer as terms now agreed at Elland Road

Leeds United’s transfer window looks to be gearing up with the potential arrival of Anton Stach from Hoffenheim.

Stach is not the only midfielder on the cusp of signing for the West Yorkshire outfit, however, with Sean Longstaff also on the verge of joining Leeds.

The move for Longstaff was a long and drawn-out one that took multiple bids from the Whites, but Daniel Farke finally looks to have landed his man.

Now, Stach also looks set to be next at Elland Road with Leeds’ midfield for the Premier League seemingly complete.

Stach wants Leeds move ahead of Premier League return

Along with these midfield reinforcements, Leeds also remain in the hunt for a new striker, with United bidding for Lecce forward Nikola Krstovic.

Whilst the move for Krstovic seems unlikely, Stach’s move to Leeds just gained a massive boost after a recent update.

According to Sky Sports (16 July, 11:03), Leeds are believed to have received encouragement that Stach is interested in a potential move to Elland Road.

United are said to be in negotiations with Hoffenheim for Stach, with the Bundesliga outfit wanting £17.4 million plus add-ons for their holding midfielder.

Stach, 26, can also play as a centre back and would provide Farke with some useful versatility within his squad, with personal terms agreed.

Farke could be set to play a midfield three next season

During his tenure at Leeds, Farke has almost exclusively played 4-2-3-1, but with the arrival of Longstaff and potentially Stach, the Whites would have five players to fit in just two positions.

Switching to a 4-3-3 would seem more defensively responsible, and also given the fact Leeds do not have a Premier League quality number ten at the club, it could be a wise move from Farke.

In Ethan Ampadu and Ao Tanaka, Leeds supporters feel they already have two Premier League-ready players, with Ilia Gruev behind the pair providing valuable cover.

But with Stach and Longstaff, Farke would have real midfield depth on his hands, giving the German multiple viable systems and combinations depending on the game.

If both of United’s targets sign, you would assume that this would be their finalised midfield ahead of the Premier League season.

This would allow the 49ers to address some of the more pressing issues within the squad, like the goalkeeper position.
