Another forward arrival on the cards at Leeds despite what Bielsa said on Monday – report
Marcelo Bielsa has said that Leeds United will not sign any more players in the January transfer window – but that has been disputed by a report from TeamTalk.
On Monday, it was confirmed that Jean-Kevin Augustin had arrived on loan from RB Leipzig for the rest of the season before Bielsa announced in a press conference that the Yorkshire club had finished their business for the month.
However a fresh report has challenged what Bielsa said to the press on Monday, with TeamTalk claiming that Leeds “could still add another frontman to their squad” despite the Argentine’s comments.
Hull City attacker Jarrod Bowen is someone who is reportedly on Leeds’ radar while the Whites had been linked with a number of other strikers in the January window before Augustin’s arrival.
It is hard to see how Leeds would be able to fit another centre-forward into the squad with Patrick Bamford and Augustin fighting for a spot in the starting line-up while Ian Poveda’s arrival also suggests Bielsa feels he has enough depth out wide.
We do not feel as though Leeds need another striker now that they have Augustin.
Tyler Roberts can serve as a third-choice option up front now that he is back to fitness after a recent injury so Bielsa has no need for another striker.
He also has plenty of options out wide with Poveda joining the likes of Helder Costa, Ezgjan Alioski, Jack Harrison, Stuart Dallas and Pablo Hernandez who can all play on the wing, as well as several promising Under-23 players.
If Leeds were going to add one more player to the squad you would think it would be a central midfielder or a centre-back.
However we are more inclined to believe what Bielsa has said at the moment.
The Leeds manager is always very open in his press conferences so there is no need to think he was covering something up by saying no more signings will be made this month.
