Ange Postecoglou to hold talks with Archie Gray today to seal Leeds United exit for Tottenham

Ange Postecoglou will hold talks with Archie Gray today (30 June) to convince him to pick Tottenham should he leave Leeds this summer, according to The Mirror.

Writing on their website (30 June), the news outlet report that the Spurs boss is planning to have a conversation with the 18-year-old between his punditry duties for ITV Sport at Euro 2024 about a transfer.

Gray was on the verge of joining Brentford in a £40m deal [Nizaar Kinsella,29 June], even undergoing a medical [Graham Smyth, 29 June], but Leeds backed out of the deal due to payment terms and it’s now “increasingly likely” Gray heads to north London on Sunday (30 June).

Everyone at Leeds already knows just how special Archie Gray is, and there is no surprise that there is a queue of clubs waiting to try and poach him at the first opportunity.

But Spurs are clearly working harder than most, not giving up on a deal that looked destined to see him end up at Brentford, and now the manager is keen to make an impression too.

Despite being in Germany with ITV Sport for Euro 2024 as a pundit, Postecoglou is finding time to speak to the 18-year-old about a move to N17 and hopes to convince him that it’s the right move for him.

He will surely have to convince the midfield prodigy that he will get the regular first-team football he craves after 52 appearances for Daniel Farke in 2023/24, with so many top international players ahead of him in the pecking order.

However, it’s clear Spurs are serious about getting a deal done and it seems like a matter of when not if he ends up in a different white kit for the new campaign.
