Alioski transfer to Galatasaray falls through as Leeds United want him to stay

Ezgjan Alioski has seen a transfer to Galatasaray fall through with Leeds United intent on keeping the left-back, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper claims that Leeds do not want to table a second contract offer to Alioski with their initial offer still on the table.

However, it is understood Victor Orta remains in contact with the North Macedonia international’s representatives “in case a last-minute deal can be brokered”.

Time to forget Gjanni?

It might be a bit blunt but should Leeds really be letting Alioski string them along like this?

Marcelo Bielsa clearly rates the 29-year-old but it’s fairly obvious that he’s waiting around for a better offer from elsewhere and is possibly using the European Championships to put himself in the shop window.

Orta will no doubt be under instruction from Bielsa to keep Alioski to stay but it must come to a point where the Whites just move on and forget about him.

Alioski will be a good back-up option next season and nothing more than that really.

He struggled through most of this season in the Premier League and clearly isn’t capable of playing as a left-back in England’s top-flight.

The Mirror reports Leeds will be signing a left-back this summer while Jack Harrison, who’s expected to sign permanently from Manchester City, is nailed on to be the starting left-winger.

Alioski will be back-up for both positions and at his stage of his career, does he want to be sitting on the bench each week?

Probably not.
