Alex Crook issues Willy Gnonto January transfer admission as Leeds United exit prediction made

Leeds United were expecting offers for Willy Gnonto in the January transfer window, according to talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook.

Crook noted that such offers failed to materialise last month, with the Italian attacker remaining at the Elland Road club.

The 20-year-old forward has made 26 appearances under Daniel Farke in all competitions this season, scoring three goals.

“I think they were expecting some offers for Wilfried Gnonto in the January transfer window but that didn’t materialise,” Crook told GIVEMESPORT.

“It’s a strange one because they fought so hard to keep him and he fought so hard to leave at the beginning of the season. He even went on strike and now he can’t get in the team. So it’s an odd one. But yeah, I do expect him to stay which probably means it’s not a priority position anymore.”

Gnonto now shining for Leeds United

The young Italian has had quite the journey at Elland Road so far, despite having only been at Elland Road for a short period of time.

His brief spell in West Yorkshire has involved many ups and downs, with Gnonto seemingly coming very close to exiting the club on several occasions.

Premier League giants Everton and West Ham have both shown an interest in the attacker, but he has stayed put, for the time being at least.

And Farke will be absolutely delighted, with Gnonto scoring in his club’s last two matches, both of which have been crucial goals.

The winger netted the only goal of the game as Leeds defeated Bristol City 1-0 in the Championship on Friday (2 February).

He followed that up with the opener in the FA Cup fourth round replay against Plymouth Argyle on Tuesday (6 February), with the Whites winning the match 4-1 after extra time.

In other Leeds United news, OIi McBurnie reacted as the Whites agreed terms for a last-ditch signing, with Pavel Nedved named.
