Alasdair Gold shares Oliver Skipp and Leeds United transfer update after Archie Gray deal

Tottenham midfielder Oliver Skipp is not included in the Tottenham deal to sign Leeds United star Archie Gray, according to Alasdair Gold.

This comes after the journalist shared on 1 July that although Daniel Farke admires the midfielder, only a move for Joe Rodon is included.

That doesn’t, however, mean that a deal can’t yet be struck but at the moment, during the Gray transfer, Skipp isn’t a factor within the deal.

Why Leeds United signing Oliver Skipp would be a good move

Due to the EFL’s strict PSR rules, Leeds have been pushed into selling Gray to Spurs this summer.

The deal for Gray is said to be worth around £40million [Nizaar Kinsella, 29 June] and also includes Rodon returning to Elland Road, albeit in a separate deal [Beren Cross, 1 July].

As the midfielder played an important role last season in both the centre of the park and at right-back, Daniel Farke will have a massive void to fill within his squad, enter Skipp.

The 23-year-old appeared 24 times across all competitions for Tottenham last season but, thanks to the addition of Gray, he could lose his spot in the squad.

Hence, why a move to Leeds would make sense for both parties. Skipp would be able to easily fill the void left by the 18-year-old and even add some experience to the Whites’ midfield.

And, the fact that Farke and Skipp have previously worked together also bodes well for the defensive midfielder to settle in quickly.

In other Leeds news, the Whites have been offered £5m+ for one of their defenders.
