Al Rayyan confident of signing Rodrigo from Leeds United, Fulham enter the race
Saudi Arabian club Al Rayyan are confident of signing Rodrigo from Leeds, but Fulham have now entered the race for his signature according to Bruno Andrade.
The Spaniard is expected to leave Elland Road this summer as he enters the final 12 months of his contract following relegation, with several clubs interested in securing his services.
But after a deal to join Sevilla broke down over wage concerns, Al Rayyan emerged as the favourites to get a deal done but journalist Andrade has shared that they have been made aware that the Cottagers are also interested in getting a deal done.
“Al Rayyan remains confident in signing Rodrigo Moreno, but has already learned that the Spanish player is also in Fulham’s sights,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account (3 July).
Exit on cards
If Leeds fans had been asked about Rodrigo leaving the club prior to last season, plenty of people wouldn’t have been too disappointed if he’d left.
However last season he became the top scorer of the club and carried us on his back for the most part in the battle against relegation to the Championship.

But after such a good season and now entering the final year of his deal, it’s inevitable that he will be targeted by other clubs playing in the top flight and an exit seems almost guaranteed.
Fulham would be a good move to keep him in England, but we’ve seen the way that Saudi Arabian clubs have splashed the cash this summer and he could well be tempted to get one final pay day before his career comes to an end in the next few years.
Leeds have to get the best deal they can for themselves, but Rodrigo will ultimately decide his own destiny and it will be interesting to see where he ends up.
In other Leeds news, a Premier League club have withdrawn their interest in one star amid an expected loan move away.
