£70m+ news emerges from Brighton as Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville wanted at AMEX

Brighton have slapped a hefty price tag on Kaoru Mitoma as Leeds United forward Crysencio Summerville is being eyed as a potential replacement, according to the Daily Mirror.

The newspaper reported on its website on Friday (29 December) that the Seagulls would be looking for a minimum of £70million to sell the 26-year-old Japanese international in January.

It comes after The Sun journalist Alan Nixon revealed on his Patreon on Sunday (24 December) that the Premier League side are keeping an eye on Summerville, with the Whites looking for a “big fee” if they were to sell the 22-year-old Dutchman.

The difference

Whether or not Leeds manage to keep hold of Summerville in January could play a major role in the club’s promotion hopes this season.

The forward has been in scintillating form in the opening half of the campaign, having notched 11 goals and laid on six assists in 21 Championship appearances.

He is believed to have turned down interest from Premier League clubs over the summer to remain at Elland Road, but there are likely to be plenty of suitors in for him again once the window opens.

It will come down to how much teams are offering for him and whether or not any of them can convince the Dutchman that he could have a better future with them.

One potential factor is the forward’s international aspirations as he knows a move now could put him in a position to challenge for a place in the Netherlands’ 2024 European Championships squad if he has a strong second half of the season.
