£51k-a-wk ace tells friends he wants full-time contract at Leeds, may cost roughly £10m – report

Manchester City winger Jack Harrison has told friends that he wants to join Leeds United on a permanent deal in the summer, according to Football Insider.

Harrison, 23, is over halfway through his second season on loan at Elland Road and the Whites do have the option to sign him for roughly £10million in the summer transfer window on a full-time basis.

The former New York City attacker has started every Championship fixture this term and Football Insider reports that he is loving life in West Yorkshire and wants to join Leeds permanently once his loan deal comes to an end.

While Harrison had his critics in his first season at Elland Road, the 23-year-old has been one of the stand-outs for Marcelo Bielsa this term.

Although like most of his team-mates his form has dropped in recent weeks, Harrison has played a key role in helping Leeds reach where they currently are in the Championship standings.

He’s made 32 league appearances this term, scoring five goals and supplying six assists in the process. Only Patrick Bamford has scored more than the former England Under-21 international.

It remains to be seen whether Harrison will be a Leeds player in the Premier League or Championship next season but it may be a lot easier for the Whites to strike a deal for him if they do win promotion.

As well as the reported £10million option-to-buy clause in his loan deal, statistics website Spotrac reports that Harrison earns £51,000-a-week on his contract at Manchester City.

While it is likely that a portion of those wages are being subsidised by Man City for the duration of his loan at Leeds, that will no longer be the case if he makes his switch permanent.

Would Harrison be willing to take a pay cut if the Whites fail to win promotion? Or have the Yorkshire giants planned to match those wages regardless of going up or not?
