49ers may be close to Karl Darlow transfer already as Ethan Ampadu announced
Following the announcement that Leeds United have signed Ethan Ampadu from Chelsea, they may well be close to yet another signing, with Newcastle goalkeeper Karl Darlow in talks with the club.
Darlow could be the club’s second signing in a matter of days, after they have made progress on a deal for the player who they have been linked to throughout the summer. This news comes following reports that Hull City have given up their pursuit of his services [The Yorkshire Post, 17 July].
Reports suggest Leeds are finally locked in talks that would see the 32-year-old replace Illan Meslier, who is expected to leave this summer despite a lack of current interest in his services.

49ers Enterprises are wasting no time when it comes to bringing in new signings at Leeds United. It had been a slow start to the summer for Leeds, but following the official confirmation of their takeover on 17 July, transfer news has begun to gather pace.
A good move all round
Leeds United knew as soon as they were relegated that they would be looking for a new goalkeeper this summer, with Meslier likely to leave, and Darlow has seemingly been their key target for that role.
Meslier impressed during their spell in the Premier League and despite poor performances towards the end of last season, he is still thought to have some high-profile admirers.

Darlow has proved his capability in the Championship, spending the second half of last season on loan with Hull City who were desperate to see him return to the club.
Bringing in homegrown players with experience in the league will go a long way to seeing Leeds compete for promotion this season, as Darlow’s level of experience can offer much more than just a good option in net.
Leeds United have also been linked to Bayern Munich goalkeeper Alexander Nubel, who also has interest from Stuttgart, and it is unclear whether Darlow’s arrival would stall that move or if the club may move for both and let them fight for their place.
In other Leeds United news, another talented player may be set to leave the club.
