49ers line up Million Manhoef insurance as Leeds United push for Jonathan Rowe could fail

Leeds United have lined up Million Manhoef as their Plan B should a move for Jonathan Rowe be unsuccessful, according to TEAMtalk.

The outlet reported via their website on 14 August that the 49ers are “aware” that a deal for the Norwich City ace might not get over the line, so the Stoke City winger could be the fall-back option.

The Potters don’t want to sell the Dutch Under-21 international after only signing him last winter, and would reportedly want between £8million and £10million to let him go.

Leeds still have Rowe at the top of their list and hope to do a deal with the Canaries, while there is also competition for Manhoef with two other Championship clubs interested.

Norwich ace remains Leeds United top priority over Stoke option

Manhoef may not have the numbers that Rowe produced last term, just as the Carrow Road wide man didn’t produce to the same level as Crysencio Summerville.

But in 14 league outings the 22-year-old scored four and assisted another in his first taste of English football, having scored four more for Vitesse in the first half of the season.

His nine goals and five assists in the Eredivisie the previous campaign are a mark of his attacking ability so he could be a viable alternative at Elland Road.

Norwich are said to want £15m for Rowe, 21, according to TEAMtalk on 12 August, as the Whites gear up to outbid Marseille.

The French side aren’t ready to go that high, while fellow Ligue 1 suitors Monaco are stuck needing to move a player out before they can push for a deal [Santi Aouna, 13 August].

So the door appears to be open for Daniel Farke to get his top choice to replace Summerville, but if the move fails Manhoef would be a more affordable option in a similar mould.
