’49ers know what to do’ as Krstovic responds to significant Leeds offer
Leeds United are very active in the transfer market ahead of their Premier League return, with Nikola Krstovic also on their radar.
Three signings have already arrived at Elland Road so far this summer, with defender Jaka Bijol being the most notable name to arrive in West Yorkshire.
Daniel Farke and the 49ers will know that there is still plenty of business to be done in the window.
Goalkeeper is still a priority position for the Whites, with Lucas Perri being the latest shot-stopper to be linked with a move to Elland Road.

Leeds to miss out on Nikola Krstovic signing
Leeds have already missed out on one transfer target this summer after Habib Diarra joined Sunderland, despite the 49ers’ advances for the midfielder.
However, Diarra is not the only player Leeds have missed out on so far.
Farke will desperately want to bring a new striker in before the Premier League campaign, but these ambitions have just been dealt a major blow.
According to Corriere dello Sport (July 3), Leeds’ “significant” contract proposal to Krstovic was turned down by the 25-year-old striker, with the player prioritising a move to a club playing in Europe.
Nikola Krstovic | Stats (Serie A 2024/25 season) |
Appearences | 37 |
Goals | 11 |
Assists | 5 |
The same reports suggest that Leeds were ready to pay a handsome fee for Krstovic, who has won 27 international caps for Montenegro, and meet his salary demands.
Despite this setback, the 49ers will know what to do, and they have proven to make shrewd signings for Leeds consistently.
Instead of going back in with an improved offer, the Leeds chiefs must quickly switch focus to other targets.

Leeds did well to avoid signing Krstovic
During Leeds’ last stint in the Premier League, they signed too many players who wanted to play in England’s top flight and not for Leeds United.
This was seen in many players’ conduct as they forced unceremonious moves away from Elland Road following the Whites’ relegation.
The 49ers must address this when recruiting new faces in the summer.
If Krstovic signed for Leeds, with one eye already on a move away to a club in Europe, then that will not have served the club well as they gear up for a relegation battle.
Callum Wilson could be a smart signing for Leeds to help lead the line, with Wilson having a vast amount of experience in the Premier League, making him a useful option for Farke.
