49ers have multiple Leeds United transfers lined up already after takeover news

Leeds United have incoming signs lined up behind the scenes following the completion of their takeover, with Ethan Ampadu set to be the first in the door, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

After news broke that Leeds United have agreed a fee with Chelsea for Ethan Ampadu [Nizaar Kinsella, 17 July], the Yorkshire Evening Post shared on 18 July that it is no coincidence the news of this deal only broke ahead of the takeover being made official.

In fact, they have stated that there are multiple incoming signings lined up behind the scenes which could now start to go through following the official EFL approval for the 49ers takeover.

Things are starting to speed up

It was a slow start to the summer transfer window for Leeds United as they watched the other newly-relegated sides Leicester and Southampton making big-money moves, but things finally look to be speeding up at Elland Road.

The unexpected delays over the EFL approval for the takeover did cause a bit of a stutter, but now the floodgates seem to have opened. Ampadu is expected to be first through the door at Elland Road, but it has now been suggested that he could be the first of many.

Leeds United have also been linked to Liverpool centre-back Nat Phillips [The Athletic, 27 June] and we could now see further movement regarding that deal as there seems to be nothing in the way of the club moving for him.

The most impressive thing about Leeds’ move for Ampadu was the secrecy of it. There wasn’t so much as a rumour before details of the transfer came out, and more deals of that ilk would be a welcome sight to fans.

In other Leeds United news, the club have reportedly agreed personal terms over a new signing.
