30% clause included in latest completed Leeds deal – report

Manchester City have included a 30 per cent sell-on clause in the deal that has seen Ian Poveda move to Leeds United, according to the Manchester Evening News.

The newspaper claims that Leeds have not had to pay any initial fee to sign the 19-year-old attacker but the deal can rise to £1million if certain bonuses are met.

Leeds have managed to strike such a deal because Poveda’s contract at Man City was due to expire at the end of the season.

The Manchester Evening News adds that while Man City do not have a buy-back clause that can see Poveda return to Etihad for a certain fee in the future, Leeds will have to notify the Premier League giants if they receive any bids so that they can be matched.

Poveda only made one senior appearance for Man City during his time at the Etihad but is now set to play a role in Leeds’ first-team.

Marcelo Bielsa lost Jack Clarke last month when he was recalled from his loan spell by Tottenham and it seems as though Poveda has been brought in as a replacement.

Leeds still have some work to do before the January transfer window closes.

The Whites have signed goalkeeper Elia Caprile and Poveda, but still need a centre-forward who can help get the goals that can see them to promotion to the Premier League.
