22y/o could exit Leeds permanently soon, already trains with potential new club – report
Jay-Roy Grot could leave Leeds United permanently this month to join Dutch Eredivisie side ADO Den Haag, according to AD.
The Dutch newspaper claims that Grot, 22, could join ADO soon. However, a deal hinges on whether or not Leeds will be able to terminate the striker’s contract.
Grot’s existing terms expire in the summer and he’s completely out of the picture at Elland Road, failing to make Marcelo Bielsa’s Premier League squad and any matchday squads for the Under-23s.
AD adds that the Dutch striker has been training with ADO Den Haag in the last week ahead of potentially joining them permanently if his deal at Elland Road is scrapped.
Another Orta flop to leave?
Victor Orta signed a lot of players during his first season as director of football at Elland Road and Grot is someone who was snapped up to fill the boots of Chris Wood.
However, it would be fair to say that Grot has completely failed to do that with him barely looking good enough for the Championship – let alone the Premier League.
Grot scored just one goal in his 22 appearances for the Whites and struggled while on loan at Vitesse last term with just two goals in 22 Eredivisie outings.
ADO Den Haag are struggling this season as they currently sit 16th in the Eredivisie’s relegation play-off spot.
Grot’s been pretty woeful for Leeds but they must be desperate if they’re thinking about signing him.
Still, the striker is still relatively young at 22-years-of-age so he could still come good.
But it just doesn’t seem as though it will ever happen for Grot at Leeds and we’ll be happy for him if he’s able to move on.
Leeds should do the right thing and terminate his deal to save themselves a bit of money and also offer the young forward a glimmer of hope about his future in the sport.
