£20m striker wants move to Leeds – Bielsa thinks he can be huge star in Premier League: Reports
Stuttgart striker Nicolás González wants to move to Leeds United above any other club at the moment, according to SampdoriaNews.
Sampdoria have had a long-standing interest in the forward and tried to sign him last summer. Lazio were also keen before they did a deal for David Silva.
However, the report now claims that Italy isn’t the most likely destination for a player who scored 14 goals in 27 Bundesliga games this season.
Instead, the report claims that Bielsa is very keen on the player and that González feels the same way about Leeds – favouring a move to Elland Road above any other destination.
Gonzalez is a name that keeps cropping up with very strong links to Leeds.
And he offers the sort of versatility that makes us think he could be the perfect fit for Bielsa.
He’s played in all three advanced positions for Stuttgart this season – as an out-and-out striker and on both wings.
His form in Germany has seen him break into the Argentina side, where he’s played as a striker and a right-winger.
That means that Gonzalez could be the perfect back-up to Patrick Bamford as well as a player who could play alongside Bielsa’s preferred striker.
He is said to be a player who Bielsa believes can be a big star in the top-flight in England and could take the Premier League by storm. [Mirror]
That same report says that Leeds were readying a £20m move for the player – well within the budget Leeds have set aside for a striker.
Leeds were said to have been prioritising players from the Championship but Gonzalez ticks a lot of boxes and if this report is true, he could well be set for a move to Elland Road.
