£20,000-a-wk Leeds player emerges on radar of billionaire-owned club – reports
Leicester City are eyeing up Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips as a potential replacement for Wilfred Ndidi, according to Bleacher Report.
Phillips, 24, has been in stunning form at Elland Road this season and there has already been plenty of speculation surrounding his future as well as talk of him getting into Gareth Southgate’s next England squad.
Now, Phillips has reportedly emerged on the radar of Leicester as they sweat over the future of Ndidi, with the Metro reporting that the £60million-rated Foxes ace is wanted by Manchester United.
Phillips is, without doubt, Leeds’ best financial asset with Phil Hay recently reporting that he is valued at over £20million.
However, would the Whites be able to stave off interest from Leicester?
If they fail to win promotion to the Premier League then fans might as well wave goodbye to the deep-lying midfielder because he is way to good for the Championship and the Whites may be forced into a sale due to the financial impact of not going up.
Leicester are backed by billionaire-owners King Power, so you would imagine that they would be able to pay Leeds whatever they demanded for Phillips.
But if the Yorkshire giants do win promotion, they stand a very big chance of keeping Phillips for at least one more season as the club could demand a hefty fee for the £20,000-a-week ace [Mail].
In other Leeds United news, Hay has said what season ticket holders may get for free once the season is back underway.
