Tanaka undroppable at Leeds United as teammate sends best in the world message
Ao Tanaka has been labelled as the “best player in the world” by his Leeds United teammate Willy Gnonto and his performances so far this season have been worthy of such praise.
Tanaka was once again crucial for the Whites as they emerged victorious against Swansea on Sunday afternoon in a seven-goal thriller.
According to FotMob, the Japanese international won a remarkable 73 per cent of his defensive duels, leading to praise from Gnonto.
The latter commented on Tanaka’s Instagram post after the game with the simple yet effective sentence: “Best player in the world”.
Leeds United have a gem in Ao Tanaka
With the Whites sitting top of the table, several players have been standout performers but perhaps none as much so as Tanaka who has been phenomenal.
His 91.4 per cent pass accuracy in the Championship this season is a testament to the incredible amount of composure showcased one each of his performances.
His ability under pressure allows him to thrive in tight areas and ensure that the Whites retain possession of the ball.
Tanaka contributes in every area of the pitch, having won 60.7 per cent of his defensive duels this campaign, an attribute that places him in the top 80.6 per cent of players in the division.

Per 90 minutes, the talented midfielder averages 71.34 successful passes which just demonstrates the influence he has in games off the ball but he contributes similarly off of it with an average of 1.97 tackles per game.
If Leeds are to get promoted this season, much of that will be down to the standards set by Tanaka. An incredible signing and someone who is surely undroppable for Daniel Farke now.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites going top of the Championship with a 4-3 win at Swansea City didn’t stop one fan calling for Daniel Farke to be sacked.
