Lukas Nmecha could achieve 31-year first for Leeds United vs Man City
Lukas Nmecha could be about to do something at Leeds for the first time since 1994.
Leeds United travel to face Man City on Saturday, and if past results and current form are anything to go by, it’s hard to see past anything other than a defeat.
Daniel Farke’s future is at stake this weekend, though if a 2-1 defeat to Villa wasn’t enough to force the 49ers into a decision, it’s highly unlikely that a defeat against City would change their minds.
However, a feat that is 31 years in the making is also at stake at the Etihad, and it is in regard to the Whites’ top scorer, Nmecha.

David Wetherall feat could be repeated this weekend
Leeds have struggled significantly going forward this season, and while a lot of that may be on Farke, a lot of it is also on the personnel that he has available.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been dreadful, in all honesty, and his lack of form has afforded Nmecha an extended run in the team, which he has taken.
The German has three goals so far this season, all three of which have been the opening goal of the game for Leeds.
- Goal after eight minutes vs Aston Villa
- Goal after 13 minutes vs Nottingham Forest
- Goal after 84 minutes vs Everton
The only Leeds player whose first four goals in a competition were the opening goals in the game was David Wetherall between 1993-1994.
Wetherall scored 12 goals in over 200 appearances for the Whites, and this weekend could see his feat repeated for the first time.
Leeds need to sign a striker in January
While Nmecha may be in some good form, he is far from the ideal striker in a situation like the one that Leeds currently face.
One of his goals has been from the penalty spot, while his latest was a clearance that deflected off him and into the back of the net.
However, he is arguably the best option that the Whites have at the moment, and Farke has to utilise that regularly.

Calvert-Lewin has been better in the air this season, but Nmecha has offered far more goal threat, but still nowhere near enough to get the goals to steer Leeds away from relegation.
