Leeds United’s attacking concerns laid bare by stat that reveals true problem
Leeds have a big issue to address if they are to avoid relegation this season.
All of the focus is on Daniel Farke’s future at Leeds, though, with the 49ers seemingly not going to pull the trigger, the German is going to have to work miracles to address the issues that are haunting his side.
Most of them are in the final third, with the Whites having scored the second fewest number of goals in the Premier League this season, with Wolves the only side having scored fewer.
However, while the number of goals scored is certainly a concern, what happens before that is seemingly working fairly well.

Leeds simply don’t have a finisher
Leeds are 13th in the xG table this season, with just 10 goals from their 13.1 xG according to FotMob.
That showcases the fact that the Whites have failed to score on at least three occasions when data suggests they should have found the back of the net.
However, the concerns go much deeper than that.
Both Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha feature among the Premier League’s top 18 players for shots on target per 90, with Nmecha in 14th.
What that demonstrates is that Leeds are creating chances for shots to be taken, and yet their forward options aren’t making the most of it.

For Calvert-Lewin, he averages 1.3 shots on target per 90, with a 47.1 per cent shot accuracy.
They are respectable stats, but the fact that he has just one goal so far this season to show for it demonstrates that personnel is Leeds’ biggest issue.
Daniel Farke is getting slightly unfortunate at Leeds
Farke is still a big problem for Leeds, and his previous record in the Premier League showcases that.
However, the stats show that his side is performing better than the results would suggest.
The Whites are just below average for the attacking data in the top flight, but their actual output is far from what is expected.
It demonstrates that the 49ers have a lot of work to do in January to bring in the right forwards for this level.
