Leeds United: Patrick Bamford doing something not seen at Elland Road in 90+ years
Patrick Bamford is setting a goalscoring pace not witnessed at Leeds United in approaching a century.
The 30-year-old found the net against Huddersfield Town on Saturday (2 March) to earn Leeds a draw at John Smith’s Stadium.
While that result was disappointing, seeing United fall just short of setting a new club record for successive wins, Bamford’s own run continued.
With that strike, Bamford has now scored in six of his eight starts for Leeds in the 2023-24 campaign.

That 75-per-cent success rate is the highest ratio by any Leeds player since Charlie Keetley in 1929-20, as per Opta’s Jonny Cooper.
Keetley scored in seven out of nine starts that campaign – 78 per cent of games – so Bamford will have a chance to better even that return.
Indeed, you would imagine that the former Middlesbrough ace will be nailed on to start for Leeds against Stoke City on Tuesday (5 March).
Patrick Bamford propelling Leeds United promotion push
It is hard to remember now, but Bamford endured an underwhelming first half of the campaign at Elland Road, failing to score in 16 matches.

There have been some cracking strikes in that run, and some a little more fortunate, earning him praise from Daniel Farke for a “fantastic” goal against Norwich City.
Numerous players have played their part in this push for automatic promotion, none more so than Bamford in 2024.
After a disappointing result against Huddersfield, Leeds could do with responding against Stoke. If they are to do that, Bamford will no doubt have his say.
In other Leeds United news, the Under-18s side have reached the FA Youth Cup semi-finals for the first time this century.
