Leeds United can achieve Premier League first since 2015 vs Bournemouth

Leeds can make Premier League history when they host Bournemouth on Saturday.

On Saturday afternoon, Bournemouth travel to Elland Road to face Leeds United for the first time since 2023, when the Cherries won 4-1

That clash in April was one of just two wins achieved by the Cherries against Leeds, dating all the way back to 1939 when these two sides first faced off against each other.

However, despite the last result ending in defeat, as well as Bournemouth’s strong start to the season, Leeds will have hope heading into this game, and they could do something for the first time since Watford, 10 years ago.

Leeds are yet to concede at Elland Road

When a side gets promoted from the Championship, it is never underestimated just how important it is to demonstrate solid home form, and for Leeds, they have already to some extent.

Leeds beat Everton 1-0 on the opening day of the season at Elland Road, and secured a point in a 0-0 draw against Newcastle in their second home game of the season.

So far, they are yet to concede at Elland Road, and if they can keep that going against the Cherries, they will become the first promoted team to record three clean sheets at the start of a season since Watford achieved it in 2015.

Leeds’ season so far

A 5-0 hammering away to Arsenal aside, Leeds have demonstrated their defensive solidity in the Premier League, and given how much effort was made in that regard from a recruitment perspective, it comes as no surprise.

Albeit joint with a handful of teams with six goals scored, the Cherries have scored the last out of everyone in the top 11 of the Premier League.

Leeds must refrain from repeating Wolves errror

Leeds beat Wolves 3-1 last time out, but they had found themselves 1-0 down fairly early in the game.

It wasn’t exactly a moment of quality either; instead, it was a lapse of concentration at the back from Leeds, which gifted the hosts the opening goal.

Against Bournemouth, that will be published, and Daniel Farke needs to ensure that he finds the right balance between attack and defence when they host the Cherries on Saturday afternoon.
