Leeds United and Daniel Farke joy set to continue amid dreadful Man United reveal

Daniel Farke must be relishing the prospect of Leeds United’s huge clash against Manchester United at Elland Road on Sunday.

Leeds are on a six-game unbeaten run after drawing 0-0 with Liverpool on Thursday, and there is real optimism among supporters that they can avoid relegation.

Although Leeds were predicted to be relegated at the start of the season, they have exceeded expectations in the last month.

Farke has overseen a remarkable change of fortunes, and the Whites have the opportunity to go 10 points clear of the relegation zone with a win over Man United.

Ruben Amorim’s side come off the back of a disappointing draw to Wolves, and Farke should be confident that his team can extend their fine run of form against their fragile defence.

Leeds must take advantage of Man United’s weak mentality

Man United are predicted to narrowly beat Leeds, although they certainly won’t want to score the first goal, given their history this season.

They have conceded more equalisers than any other side in the Premier League this season, with teams levelling up against them on 12 occasions so far this term.

Amorim’s side have drawn six games in the Premier League this season, with the Red Devils opening the scoring in every one.

Their 12 points dropped from winning positions this term is already more than they dropped in the whole of last season (11).

Leeds’ all-time head-to-head record vs Man United

The Red Devils have conceded at least once in each of their last 14 Premier League away games. They last had a longer run without an away league clean sheet between September 1985 and April 1986 (15).

Leeds have also never lost to Man United when facing them in their first league game of a calendar year, drawing 0-0 in 1931, 1-1 in 1958, 0-0 in 1994, and winning 2-1 in 1969.

Their last win over Man United was in 2010, when Jermaine Beckford’s winner sent the Whites through to the fourth round of the FA Cup.

It’s been far too long since Leeds beat Man United, and Farke will be the manager most confident of securing the bragging rights if Dominic Calvert-Lewin can continue his fine run of form.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin can achieve 22-year first for Leeds vs Man United.

Calvert-Lewin has scored in each of his last three Premier League home games for the Peacocks.

He’s never scored in four consecutive home matches before, while the last Leeds player to do so was Mark Viduka in April 2004.

Having scored eight goals this season, Calvert-Lewin has been a fantastic signing for Leeds and has proven why the Whites went for a striker with his experience and pedigree.

The 28-year-old has only scored twice in 14 appearances against the Red Devils, and he’ll be desperate to change his fortunes in the fixture.

A lot of signs are pointing to a Leeds win, and after what has happened in the last month, no one can rule out Farke’s side.
