Leeds have clear January priority after what Jayden Bogle did vs Crystal Palace

Jayden Bogle has proved to be a brilliant addition for Leeds in recent years.

Bogle has cemented the right-back spot at Elland Road since joining the Whites from Sheffield United in a £5million deal.

However, Leeds’ 4-1 win over Crystal Palace shows where Daniel Farke needs to address in the January transfer window.

The 25-year-old was not at his best, despite the big win for his side, and another right-back has to be a priority for the Peacocks.

What was wrong with Bogle’s performance in Leeds’ win over Palace?

Bogle has been a reliable presence for Leeds, and he has adapted to the Premier League relatively well so far, but there were cracks in his armour against Palace.

The former Blades ace usually makes his impact felt on both sides on the pitch, not just when he is defending his own goal.

However, this was not the case against Oliver Glasner’s side.

Bogle did not attempt a single cross against the Eagles, and failed to create a chance for his teammates in the contest, per Sofascore.

Defensively, he attempted just one tackle, and won just one of his three ground duel attempts, for a 33 per cent success rate.

While he did make three clearances and three recoveries in the clash, it was not a typical performance from the experienced defender.

Farke must provide competition for Bogle

Leeds are in a great place right now, six points ahead of West Ham, who occupy the final spot in the relegation places.

They must ensure that they do the right business in the winter market to keep that gap as high as possible.

Bringing in competition for Bogle would allow Farke to rest his first-choice option, and would also drive him to be at his best at all times.

Right now, he has Sam Byram and James Justin waiting in the wings, it is unlikely that he would be dropped for either of those options.

Therefore, there is space for him to get complacent and stop performing at his best, and still get in the side.
