Joe Rodon achieves career first for Leeds United in draw vs Bournemouth

Leeds United continued their unbeaten run at Elland Road in the Premier League against Bournemouth on Saturday.

Leeds were denied a win against Bournemouth, with the Cherries grabbing a last-minute equaliser to break fans’ hearts at 2-2.

Daniel Farke will see the positives from the performance, even though they couldn’t close out the win on home soil on 27 September.

Leeds were dominant in attack against Bournemouth, creating a large number of chances, but could not capitalise and were pegged back.

They now welcome Tottenham to Elland Road next weekend, with the Whites looking to extend their unbeaten run to four games.

For Joe Rodon, it will be familiar opposition.

Joe Rodon an unlikely attacking outlet for Leeds

Rodon grabbed his first-ever Premier League goal on Saturday, with an excellent header into the corner to draw Leeds level.

Rodon received praise for his performance at both ends of the pitch, as he continued his good form at the start of the season.

The Welshman set a personal record during the game against Bournemouth, perhaps unusually in an attacking sense.

According to Opta analyst Jonny Cooper, Rodon had two shots on target in the same game for the first time in his career.

He also had the most shots he’s had in his career, alongside the most touches he’s ever had in the opposition box.

Rodon isn’t known for his attacking prowess, but this would be a welcome development for Leeds if he can add a different dimension to his game.

Joe Rodon has been excellent for Leeds in the Premier League

Rodon has been one of the keys to Leeds’ good start to the Premier League campaign, playing every single minute so far.

His partnership with Pascal Struijk from last season has continued into this year, with the two looking solid at the back, keeping out new signings Jaka Bijol and Sebastiaan Bornauw.

Leeds will continue to rely on the 27-year-old as one of their key players for Premier League survival.

If they can get him involved in attack through set-pieces or otherwise, it would be a massive benefit to their survival hopes.
