Farke will be thrilled with Aaronson despite what USA media said about Leeds United ace
Brenden Aaronson was the silver lining for USA as the Leeds United ace shone in their 2-0 loss to Mexico on Wednesday, 16 October.
Starting as one of two advanced midfielders, the 23-year-old played the full 90 minutes of the friendly but was unable to save his side from a disappointing defeat.
He was on the receiving end of criticism from American media after the game, with GOAL (16 October) labelling him a “loser”.
In reality, Aaronson was the standout performer for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, earning a 7.0 rating on FotMob – a score none of his teammates came close to.
Leeds United star Brenden Aaronson only positive for USA v Mexico
Only Raul Jimenez (5) of Mexico created more chances than Aaronson (3), with Alex Zendejas and Brandon Vazquez the only other USA players to create chances (one each).
The Leeds United ace registered 60 touches of the ball and completed 20 of his 30 passes, including three in the final third, with 67 per cent accuracy.
He also won the most amount of duels (10) in the game, with two of them coming in the air, and caused a headache to the Mexican defenders, completing three of his four dribbles.
His involvement in defence cannot be neglected as well as he recovered the ball seven times, won two tackles and made as many clearances.

Aaronson was rather ineffective in the United States’ 2-0 win over Panama on Sunday (13 October), but claims that he was poor against Mexico is harsh.
Leeds can take positives from the midfielder’s display on Wednesday, but will also be worried about his fitness ahead of their clash with Sheffield United on Friday (18 October).
In other Leeds United news, Farke has confirmed that Manor Solomon and Dan James have returned to training ahead of the game against Sheffield United.
