Dominic Calvert-Lewin Premier League reveal proves 49ers key to Leeds transfer masterclass

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has silenced his critics with recent performances for Leeds United.

The striker was on target again in Leeds’ 1-1 draw with Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium on Sunday, helping the Whites stay 17th in the Premier League table.

Calvert-Lewin has had doubters ever since he arrived at LS11, but he’s slowly proving to be one of the 49ers‘ best signings of the summer, despite costing nothing.

The Englishman now sits on five goals for the Whites, and more specifically, stats suggest he is one of the best strikers signed by any Premier League club this summer.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin trumps £300m+ worth of summer signings

Calvert-Lewin is on a hot streak of four goals in as many games, which has made him Daniel Farke‘s current top scorer.

Farke has been hailed for changing to a 3-5-2 formation, which seems to be getting the best of the forwards that are at the Germans’ disposal.

Particularly, Calvert-Lewin, who is now emerging as a better signing at zero pounds than multi-million-pound acquisitions made by the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal and more.

It wasn’t an easy start for the striker, but he’s now finding his feet in a Leeds shirt, and supporters are taking to him.

Farke will rightly get credit for the formation change, but ultimately it’s Calvert-Lewin who keeps converting in front of the goal.

There’s competition for Calvert-Lewin’s strike partner at Leeds

Noah Okafor was hailed for his performance in Leeds’ draw against the Bees at the weekend, which suggests the forward may continue to start alongside Calvert-Lewin.

Lukas Nmecha is currently out injured with a hamstring injury after being forced off in the Whites’ 3-1 victory over Chelsea at the start of December and may struggle to get back in the starting lineup.

Either way, it’s only a good thing for Farke and Leeds, because competition makes players step up, and everyone will need to be at the top of their game.

What a difference a couple of weeks can make, as the Peacocks now look in with a real shot of staying up this season after all.
