Daniel Farke to scrap Brenden Aaronson plans after Leeds United loss vs Sunderland
Brenden Aaronson continued his poor run of form as Leeds United lost 1-0 to Sunderland in the Premier League on Tuesday.
Habib Diarra scored from the spot in the 70th minute at Elland Road on 3 March to help the Black Cats secure three points in LS11.
Daniel Farke made no changes to his starting lineup against Regis Le Bris’ team and the decision came back to bite the German manager.
A few players haven’t been meeting expectations in recent matches, and the USMNT star is among them, with his Sofascore graphic below highlighting another poor display against the Wearside club.
Brenden Aaronson can’t start for Leeds United next as numbers vs Sunderland speak loudly
Aaronson has taken liberties with his performances in the last few matches, and some fans wonder why Farke has continued to rely on him.
The USA international recorded an xG and xA of 0.1 each, showcasing his lack of impact in the final third for the Whites at Elland Road in the 1-0 loss.
On the ball, the 25-year-old was sloppy, completing just 67 per cent of his passes, failing to complete any of his two dribbles and losing possession 16 times.
The midfielder was also underwhelming defensively, failing to win his one attempted tackle, losing four of his nine ground duels and winning just 50 per cent of his aerial duels.

Farke needs to go back to the drawing board and tweak his system a bit, with Lukas Nmecha clearly deserving an opportunity over Aaronson in the starting lineup.

Daniel Farke risks major disaster with stubbornness at Elland Road
It took Farke being under extreme pressure midway through the season to see a change in Leeds’ playing style.
Since the second half of the 3-2 loss to Manchester City in November, the Whites have been relatively impressive after switching to a formation with three centre-backs.

Now opposition teams seem to have figured out how to play against the West Yorkshire outfit and the German manager has to be flexible with his plans in LS11.
With nine games to go in the Premier League, the Whites still aren’t out of danger and have taken the foot off the gas during a crunch period of the season.
