Daniel Farke may have stumbled onto solution for Leeds United problem with Josuha Guilavogui

Daniel Farke has seemingly stumbled onto a solution for the experience issues within his Leeds United squad by signing Josuha Guilavogui.

The midfielder was brought in as cover for the injured Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev so that the Whites weren’t too short in their midfield until their returns.

Guilavogui has just made his debut for the West Yorkshire outfit on Saturday (2 November) in their Championship clash against Plymouth Argyle at Elland Road and showed in his cameo what a useful addition he could turn out to be.

Why Josuha Guilavogui is the answer Leeds United were looking for

When you take a look at Leeds’ team, a common theme among their squad is the fact they’re all rather young.

Since the start of the season players such as Charlie Crew and James Debayo have been named on Farke’s bench and, while there is hope their time will come, you want to have the chance to slowly integrate your young talent into the rigours of Championship football.

After Guilavogui’s debut, it feels like Farke will be able to do that while he has seemingly accidentally stumbled onto a solution to a lack of experienced pros by signing him in a crisis.

As per Sofascore, despite only being on the pitch for 15 minutes, he made his presence more than known by having 29 touches of the ball and maintaining a pass accuracy of 96 per cent.

Of the two long balls he attempted in the game, 100 per cent of them were accurate which shows his ability to move the ball forward if needed.

While his passing was a sight to behold, it’s Guilavogui’s defensive work that really shone through.

The midfielder won 100 per cent of his ground duels, 33 per cent of his aerial duels and only lost possession of the ball once.

While he didn’t have to make any clearances or interceptions due to Leeds’ dominance, he did manage to muster up a total of three tackles to prevent any sort of attacks from occurring.

Guilavogui’s experience and ability to guide and mentor the youngsters at Elland Road was one of the main reasons why he was brought to the club.

And, if his debut is anything to go off, it feels like the Frenchman could become far more important to Farke’s squad than many initially thought, especially with his defensive prowess.
