Daniel Farke joins unwanted Leeds United list that showcases why sack is imminent

Daniel Farke is walking on the very edge of thin ice at Leeds United.

Leeds suffered a 2-1 defeat at home to Aston Villa on Sunday, piling even more pressure on Farke, with many stunned as to how he hasn’t yet been sacked.

The Whites have dropped into the relegation zone and are now below the one point per game average that is usually needed to stay in the Premier League.

If that isn’t enough to force the 49ers into a decision on his future, the fact that the German became the fourth Leeds manager to achieve an unwanted feat at Elland Road could change that.

Lukas Nmecha’s goal meant nothing for Leeds

Lukas Nmecha gave Leeds the lead against the Villans, with it looking as though the day was shaping up to be a good one for the Whites, who haven’t won since the end of October.

However, a second-half double from Morgan Rogers, matched with some very questionable goalkeeping from Lucas Perri, turned the game on its head and once again saw the Whites finish empty-handed.

That was the first time since 2021 that the Whites have lost a Premier League game at Elland Road when leading at half-time, and only the fourth time it has happened.

Marcelo Bielsa was in charge the last time it happened in 2021, with David O’Leary and Terry Venables the only other managers to have suffered the same fate before Farke joined the list.

This, added with Farke’s abysmal record as a Premier League manager, has to be enough for the 49ers to pull the trigger.

Leeds may have already picked up their last point of 2025

Out of the games remaining in 2025 for Leeds, a home clash against Villa was arguably the easiest.

Up next is a trip to Man City, before two home encounters against Chelsea and Liverpool in succession.

After that, Leeds face Brentford, Palace, and end the year with an away trip to Sunderland, all of which are fixtures that are hard to see anything other than a defeat for the Whites.

Farke simply cannot be allowed to take charge of the Man City game; otherwise, it could be a cricket score.
