Daniel Farke has unleashed Brenden Aaronson – and no Leeds United fan saw it coming

Leeds United have found themselves a new creative force within Brenden Aaronson this season.

While Daniel Farke spent much of the summer transfer window looking for a new number 10, the US international has since made the role his own.

Bids for players such as Gustavo Hamer [The Star, 11 October) were made but, looking at it now, it’s hard to see how Farke could drop Aaronson for the Brazilian if a move came to fruition.

His recent display in Leeds’ 2-1 win over Watford at Elland Road on Tuesday (22 October), has only further cemented his role in Farke’s set-up.

Brenden Aaronson is now key to the Leeds United set-up

Aaronson’s return to Elland Road was initially met with some stick by fans after the American chose to depart West Yorkshire and join Union Berlin on loan last season after the Whites’ relegation.

This left many fans wary about his reintegration into the squad due to the way things were left but now, Aaronson’s redemption arc has rightly turned a few heads.

As per Sofascore, the midfielder played the full 90 minutes of the clash and managed to have 56 touches of the ball.

He also maintained a pass accuracy of 79 per cent and perhaps the most impressive statistic of them all is the five key passes he made in the clash.

Aaronson also had two shots in the game with one hitting the back of the net and the other going slightly wayward.

Of the four dribbles he attempted, 50 per cent of them ended successfully which outlines his ability to go forward in games.

While the attacker did manage to lose possession 16 times, when you’re as involved as he is in games, it’s expected that you’ll lose the ball multiple times.

Leeds are just 10 games into their Championship season but if things continue as they’ve started and Aaronson continues this run of form, it’s hard to see how they won’t be gaining promotion to the Premier League at the end of the term.
