Daniel Farke has golden chance to save Leeds United job vs Chelsea

Daniel Farke could buy himself a little more time at Elland Road thanks to Chelsea’s dire away record against Leeds United.

Farke has come under immense pressure at Leeds after a series of unconvincing Premier League performances.

The Whites staged a comeback against Manchester City on Saturday, only to fall to a 3-2 defeat after a last-minute Phil Foden dagger

This made it four consecutive league defeats for Leeds, and as a result, their game against Chelsea could be decisive for Farke’s future

Chelsea’s away record vs Leeds saving grace for Daniel Farke

Leeds will host Chelsea at Elland Road on Wednesday in a game that promises excitement from the first whistle.

While the thought of welcoming the current third-place team will be daunting, Leeds fans have reason to be cautiously optimistic.

As it stands, Chelsea have won just six of their 48 away league matches against the Whites, via BBC Sport

Only at Sheffield Wednesday do they have a lower win rate on the road than against the Whites.

It is undeniable that the Whites’ performances in the Premier League have been far from ideal.

While they’ve struggled going forward in certain games, their defence has also leaked goals.

How Leeds could line up vs Chelsea

At times when Leeds have been a defensive stronghold, their attack hasn’t been efficient. The Whites have blown hot and cold this season, which is never a good sign.

But given Chelsea’s away record against them, Farke could be spared the sack at Leeds at least until the new year rolls in.

Leeds United handed another huge boost against Chelsea

Chelsea midfielder Moyes Caicedo saw red in their 1-1 draw to league leaders Arsenal on Sunday.

The action will see him sidelined for three games, which will be music to Farke’s ears.

Indeed, the defensive midfielder has arguably been the best in his position in the Premier League, with only Declan Rice holding a candle to his performances.

He both protects their backline and helps with ball progression, and as a result, the Blues’ defence will likely be vulnerable against the Whites.

This grants Leeds the opportunity to be cutting in their attacks and give Enzo Maresca’s side some real trouble throughout the game.

While a bit lucky, Leeds’ game against Chelsea could be exactly what Farke needs to get back on track in the Premier League.
