Dan James may have made Solomon decision for Daniel Farke at Leeds United

Dan James was instrumental for Leeds United in their thrilling 4-3 victory against Swansea on Sunday afternoon leaving any room for Manor Solomon in doubt.

Since returning from injury, James has been arguably one of the best players in the Championship and his performance against Swansea on 24 November was exemplary.

James registered two assists although a third was harshly not awarded with Ben Cabango turning a cross into his own goal.

With Willy Gnonto a mainstay under Daniel Farke and with James’ performances as of late, Solomon’s future could be in doubt and a January return to Tottenham could be on the cards.

Dan James the star man for Leeds United against Swansea

James was without question the best player on the pitch on Sunday afternoon and he caused problems for his former side all night long.

Aside from the two-goal contributions, James also registered a 79 per cent accuracy (FotMob) which, for a player looking to carve out goalscoring opportunities, is impressive.

His two assists arrived with an xA (expected assists) of 1.03 after setting up Solomon and Gnonto.

Albeit in a generally poor defensive performance from the Whites, the Welshman also contributed in that area of the pitch, winning 50 per cent of his defensive duels and completing 100 per cent of his tackles in the game.

James wasn’t dispossessed once in the 89 minutes he played, showcasing his ability to work with the ball under pressure, retaining it for his side.

With five touches in the opposition box, most of which arrived on the counterattack, James was crucial for Farke’s side in their attempt to get bodies into the area and cause a threat for the Swans.

Having impressed since injury, his place in the starting XI is surely cemented and Farke’s mind might be made up on Solomon and his future beyond January.
