Calvert-Lewin holds key for Leeds United vs Tottenham after Premier League reveal

Dominic Calvert-Lewin will be crucial for Leeds’ chances of getting a result this weekend.

Calvert-Lewin struggled for Leeds against Bournemouth in the last Premier League encounter, though he will almost certainly remain in the starting 11 this weekend.

Daniel Farke’s side host Tottenham at Elland Road, looking to reach the 11-point milestone that has seen 100 per cent of promoted teams stay up by gameweek 10.

The Whites have showcased their ability to cause an upset already this season, and if they are to do it again against Spurs, Calvert-Lewin will be key.

Calvert-Lewin has never lost vs Spurs when he has scored

Given just how long Calvert-Lewin has played in the Premier League, it will come as no surprise that he has faced off against Tottenham on 12 occasions.

On the face of it, his record against them is poor, with eight defeats and just three wins since the first encounter back in 2017.

However, the Leeds star scored in all three of his wins against the North Londoners, the most recent of which arrived in the FA Cup back in the 2020-21 campaign.

Calvert-Lewin scored in Leeds’ most recent win against Wolves, showcasing his ability to get goals, though he needs to show far more consistency in front og goal.

Tottenham, especially under Thomas Frank, will limit the number of chances Leeds can create on Saturday, and it will be imperative that the Whites take them when they do arrive.

Daniel Farke’s record vs Tottenham

Farke has managed against Spurs on three occasions, though his last encounter with them was over five years ago with Norwich.

The Leeds United boss was at Norwich at the time, when the Canaries secured an emphatic 4-3 victory away to Tottenham.

That is still the only time to date where the German has got the better of the North London club, and he will be looking to build on that this weekend.

Farke has one win, a draw and a loss against Spurs, with seven goals a piece in those encounters.
