Brighton vs Leeds stats and all you need to know from Amex Stadium horror show
Leeds United suffered an awful 3-0 defeat to Brighton at the Amex Stadium on Saturday.
Brighton were predicted to defeat Leeds at the Amex Stadium in a game which the Whites desperately needed to win, and so that proved.
Daniel Farke faced pressure ahead of the West Ham game, and that has only built since.
In fact, that pressure may explode over the next few days given that Leeds’ contest against Brighton ended in a resounding victory for the Seagulls.
The disappointing result makes it three defeats in their last five Premier League games for Farke’s side.

What the stats are saying about Leeds’ trip to the Amex Stadium
The first half was a struggle for Leeds, with one of the only chances of the period being a low cross sent in centimetres away from Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s waiting touch.
Leeds dominated after conceding:
- The Whites had 52 per cent possession
- Leeds made 267 passes
- Farke’s side took two attempts on goal
However, Brighton were by far the more clinical and better attacking side, having scored a goal from one big chance created as well as eight shots throughout the half, according to Sofascore.
Leeds defended well for the most part, winning 78 per cent of their tackles and making three interceptions to Brighton’s two. However, the home side fared better in recoveries and made more clearances.
The second half was a complete capitulation:
- Leeds failed to create a single big chance against Brighton
- The Whites recorded 0.46 expected goals
- Possession for both teams was 50 per cent and Leeds made 467 passes
Indeed, Leeds only had 18 touches in Brighton’s opposition box compared to their 26 and had two shots on target compared to their opponents’ seven.
Meanwhile, the Whites struggled defensively in the second half. Indeed, Leeds won 47 per cent of their duels compared to Brighton’s 53 per cent.
Farke’s side won 46 per cent of their ground duels, 50 per cent of their aerial duels and 45 per cent of their dribbles.

All in all, it was a woeful performance from the Whites, with Calvert-Lewin struggling to score despite Brighton’s poor defensive record.
How Brighton dominated Leeds throughout the game
Danny Welbeck fired the Seagulls in front early on, which came as no surprise given that he had netted five goals heading into the game.
The Whites came close to responding, but Calvert-Lewin struggled to get on the end of a Jayden Bogle low-cross.
Despite enjoying several spells of possession, Leeds looked vulnerable as Brighton looked to threaten on the counter. However, Welbeck and Yankuba Minteh were unable to make it two for the home side.
While Leeds had an opportunity to equalise seconds into the second half, the game was dominated and won by Brighton.
Indeed, Diego Gomez netted a brace for the Seagulls to make it three goals 20 minutes from full time.
In a game that the Whites were inferior in almost every metric, Farke will be returning to Elland Road with his head in his hands after Leeds gifted Brighton their first clean sheet of the Premier League season.
