Tyler Roberts has revealed that he and the rest of the Leeds United squad are desperate to play out the rest of the Championship season.

Table-toppers Leeds have nine matches left to play of their campaign and were on course to win promotion back to the Premier League before the coronavirus pandemic brought football to a halt across the world.

Many plans have been mooted to complete the season, including handing Leeds and second-placed West Brom automatic promotion into the Premier League.

However Roberts is adamant that he and his team-mates would rather they did their talking on the pitch.

“We as players desperately want to play out the end of the season,” Roberts said, as quoted by BBC Sport.

“Even if it is we get promoted now we’ll get more satisfaction through showing what we’re about in the nine remaining games, but it’s more about the health of the world.”

Leeds fans would probably accept promotion no matter how it came about but everyone would rather it happened by the side winning it on the pitch.

Let’s face it, the Whites are good enough to go out there and win all of their remaining nine matches if they had to and that is what we would love to happen.

But we accept that in these uncertain times, the logistics of that happening are tough to put in place and being handed promotion on a points-per-game basis could be the best we can hope for.
