Leeds United fans thought that Tyler Roberts had picked up a new injury when he was withdrawn from the Wales squad this week.

However, he was named as a substitute in Leeds’ first pre-season friendly against Stoke on Tuesday and came on in the second half. That’s wound up a lot of Wales fans.

Roberts' situation was highlighted by Wales journalist Phil Cadden after the Leeds line-up was announced ahead of Tuesday's game.

The Yorkshire Evening Post reported on Monday that Roberts hadn’t picked up a fresh injury but that he was being treated carefully in pre-season by Leeds.

One Wales fan said that if the situation was more nuanced than it might seem, Leeds should have made this explicit.

He said that Wales have suffered a lot from players withdrawing from their squad and then playing for their clubs.

That’s a fair point and it doesn’t look great on the surface.

However, from a Leeds point of view, Roberts has suffered from lots of injuries and has been training to a different workload to other players in pre-season.

Going on international duty would certainly not have been good preparation for him as far as Leeds are concerned – and these internationals have come at a terrible time.

Ollie McBurnie was criticised in the same way by Scotland fans this week and Ally McCoist backed him up on talkSPORT this morning (Breakfast, Wednesday, 9.30am).

He said that McBurnie was "obviously not 100% fit" and he said he didn't have a problem with him withdrawing from the Scotland squad but playing in a Sheffield United friendly.

However, Wales and their fans see things differently.

Here are the reactions from angry Wales fans...
