Leeds United are looking to sign young right-back Cody Drameh from Fulham, with the 18-year-old entering the final year of his contract.

That’s from a report in the Telegraph but the surprising part is that it claims Leeds will offer the youngster a place in the first-team squad rather than sending him out on loan.

Drameh hasn’t played for the senior Fulham side yet but has impressed in the Under-23s.

Leeds face competition from other top-flight sides but none as yet are willing to give him a shot in the first-team.

Drameh will cost £400,000 plus add-ons and Fulham want a 20% sell-on clause included.

Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol delivered a very positive update later in the afternoon saying, “Drameh wants to sign for Leeds.”

Highly-rated youngster

We don’t know much about Drameh but we do know he’s registered eight assists in 39 games for Fulham’s Under-23s.

We also know he’s out of contract next year and that Fulham might well need to move him on or lose him for nothing next summer.

Leeds have Luke Ayling at right-back but it is one area where there’s not a lot of depth in the Bielsa squad.

Stuart Dallas can play there – but he can play anywhere. After that, it’s Bryce Hosannah as the only other recognised right-back in the squad.

It seems unusual for Leeds to be making first-team promises to young players without any experience.

It means either Bielsa really likes what he sees or this is being reported slightly wrongly.

Respected Leeds Under-23 site Focus on Leeds claims he would be a “very good signing for our Under-23 side” and that bodes well.
