Newcastle will pay £20m for winger Jack Harrison which falls short of Leeds United valuation

Newcastle United are willing to pay £20million for Leeds United winger Jack Harrison, which falls short of the Whites’ valuation according to The Daily Mail.

The Mail Online had suggested (9 July) that the Magpies were weighing up a bid for the 25-year-old Englishman.

However, it has been suggested in the Mail’s print edition on Friday (page 78, 15 July) that Newcastle’s valuation of the former Manchester City youngster falls short of what Leeds would want for the attacker.

Harrison has been at Elland Road since 2018 and made his switch from Manchester City permanent in the summer of 2021.

Stay put

Harrison surely has to commit his long-term future to Leeds.

The 25-year-old racked up some impressive stats in the 2021/22 season scoring eight Premier League goals and managing one assist for the Whites.

Considering he is in the prime of his career at 25, he should just commit his long-term future to the Whites.

If he departed Leeds he would have to almost restart at a new club and rediscover his impressive form from last season.

The only issue that presents itself with Harrison is the length of his current contract at Elland Road.

Harrison is contracted to Leeds until the summer of 2024, meaning that he would likely be able to leave for a cut-price deal next summer.

It would be a big loss for Jesse Marsch to lose the attacker who was one of the most productive attackers at Elland Road last season.

With Raphinha departing, keeping Harrison has become even more essential for Marsch going forward.

In other Leeds United news, the Raphinha millions could be spent on a new target who is reportedly at the top of the list to replace him.
