Klich delivers hilarious Alioski lockdown update, states how Leeds players want 19/20 to end
Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich talked to the press from lockdown today and he stated that the players want the 19/20 season to finish properly and with the fans if possible.
All the Leeds players are training at home but the club conducted a press conference with the midfielder remotely.
BBC journalist Adam Pope said that Klich was in “good spirits” and talked about the importance of the wage deferral the players took.
That meant all non-footballing staff could be paid in full by the club.
He also said that he’s keeping fit and stated “the desire to finish the season properly is strong and hopefully to celebrate with the fans”.
Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Graham Smyth asked him how Gjanni Alioski – known for being a livewire in the team – was getting on.
Klich burst out laughing and said, “I dunno, I hope he’s still alive”.
The feeling of separation from football has been growing in the past few days. For many fans it’s the longest they’ll have gone without any sort of action being played outside of the summer months.
It was great to hear Klich in good spirits and in good humour – we’d love Gjanni cam to be a constant feature in Alioski’s house while he’s on lockdown.
As for the 19/20 season, the players are in unison with Andrea Radrizzani and Angus Kinnear who have both said they would like the remaining fixtures to be played in front of fans if possible.
However, that’s looking increasingly unlikely in the short term.
Klich said “hopefully” and we think it’s more likely to happen behind closed doors now. That’s tough on fans who have been waiting to see their club get promoted for a long, long time.
However, promotion is the most important thing, however that happens.
