Liam Cooper reacts to Leeds United fan footage at Carrow Road after goalless draw with Norwich

Liam Cooper has called on Leeds United fans to replicate the away support at Carrow Road in the return leg at Elland Road.

The Whites captain reacted via Twitter on 12 May to footage of the traveling fans cheering on Daniel Farke’s players following the goalless draw at Norwich in the first leg of the play-off semi-finals earlier that day.

Leeds will be looking to book a place in the Wembley final with the home leg on Thursday (17 May) as they attempt to reverse generations of play-off disappointment and make an immediate return to the Premier League.

Cooper, who was an unused substitute in Norfolk, wrote: “This x100 Thursday please. From the first to the last minute.”

Advantage Leeds United after goalless first leg?

Whites supporters have seen their side drop off a cliff in recent weeks after spending much of the Championship season looking close to unbeateable.

After just one in in the final six games of the league season and a sudden return to the previous campaign’s habit of conceding far too many goals a nil-nil result away at Farke’s old side isn’t the worst outcome.

Leeds United might not be the force they were two months ago but they have proven a formidable opponent for any side at home this term.

The Elland Road support that Cooper is eager to harness on the night is widely-regarded but can prove a double-edged sword on high-tension occasions such as the play-offs.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side losing to Frank Lampard’s Derby this time four years ago is case in point, but there is no doubt that if the players match the stands it will be a tough task for Norwich.

In other Leeds United news, a Whites player on a hefty contract is now leaving the club on a permanent basis.
