Leeds United: Georginio Rutter reacts to first Archie Gray sighting at Thorp Arch
Georginio Rutter has claimed he saw something special in Leeds United gem Archie Gray as soon as he first saw him in training at Thorp Arch.
The 17-year-old has burst onto the scene under Daniel Farke this season, drawing high praise for his performances and versatility which have made him a mainstay in the first XI.
Rutter insisted that the midfielder deserves all the praise he has received after his progress this season both on and off the pitch.
Speaking to the Mirror [5 March], the Frenchman gushed: “For me, the first time I came here and I saw him, I saw something special. He’s a very big player.
“He’s had a good progression and he deserves that because he works every day for that. And he’s a good guy. He knows everything – so I don’t have to say more for him.”
Archie Gray has been outstanding for Leeds United
At just 17 years old Gray shows so much experience and know-how to his game that he is able to perform like a player twice his age.
His most recent eye-catching display at Stamford Bridge was notable. Stepping up to face one of the biggest sides in the Premier League, albeit one in poor form, and proving to be one of the best performers on the night was a huge moment for him.
Gray has been linked with big moves to Premier League teams, with the likes of Crystal Palace, Liverpool and Everton reportedly interested, and based on his performances this season, he would be more than capable of the step up.

Leeds, however, would not want to see him leave. The part he has played in Farke’s plans and their push for the automatic promotion places this season, both in central-midfield and at right-back, led to him signing a new deal recently.
