Leeds United funding availability update emerges after ‘several weeks’ pursuit of Glen Kamara from Rangers – Phil Hay
Leeds United have the “necessary funds” available to complete their long-pursued deal for Glen Kamara, according to Phil Hay.
The Athletic journalist reported via the outlet’s website Monday (28 August) that the Whites have been monitoring the Finland international midfielder at Rangers for “several weeks” and can now afford to sign him before the deadline.
Leeds spent big last week to bring in Joel Piroe from Swansea City in a deal worth up to £16million [Hay, 24 August] and previously appeared to be struggling for funds after a slew of low-cost loan exits, prior to the sale of Tyler Adams to Bournemouth for north of £20m [Athletic, 20 August].

Fabrizio Romano reported an “official bid” going in to Ibrox on Sunday and it appears the club have the cash to ensure success from negotiations, with Daniel Farke needing further additions to his midfield before the window shuts.
A fee of £5.5m had been tipped to get another late deal done with Rangers, as the Whites battle rival interest from the likes of Middlesbrough and Coventry City.
Pull the trigger
If the money is there and so is the intent then there is no reason for this move to be delayed any longer from the Leeds United end.
Unless Rangers are hoping for a bidding war to push the price up on deadline day then it appears that the 27-year-old should be Elland Road-bound imminently.
However, that has seemed the case for some weeks and the Yorkshire Evening Post’s Graham Smyth (24 August) has admitted proceedings have been “weird” with regards to this deal, as interest looks to have see-sawed up and down.

Kamara isn’t playing at all in Michael Beale’s overhauled Rangers side and Leeds United are in major need of further additions to the midfield, so for a relatively reasonable fee it seems straight forward.
But with other clubs in the running and the move still not done with just a few days left before the window shuts it is impossible to bank on it unless or until it is announced.
Farke was said to view the Ibrox man as his first-choice target, and while the club are going after a few midfielders in the final days it seems strange that this one still hasn’t yet been sealed.
In other Leeds United news, another twist has emerged in an “extraordinary transfer story” involving the Whites.
