Leeds United face competition from Manchester United for Watford striker Ismaila Sarr
Leeds United are eyeing a move for Watford forward Ismaila Sarr but could face competition from fierce rivals Manchester United as Erik ten Hag looks to bolster his forward line at Old Trafford.
90min reported on Tuesday 9 August that the Red Devils are looking to bring the 24-year-old pacy forward to Old Trafford this summer.
Leeds have shown an interest in the Senegal international with Foot Mercato revealing on 2 August that the Whites could be tempted to move for the attacker.
Manchester United are clearly in a mess at the moment, after their horrendous opening day defeat to Brighton at Old Trafford on Saturday displayed.
The club hierarchy at Old Trafford are clearly trying to appease the fans and make a number of signings before the window slams shut at the end of the month.
Sarr would be a good addition at Elland Road with his electric pace potentially something that could well be needed for Leeds, especially in the striking department.
Brenden Aaronson has shown his ability to play fast, direct and accurate passes forward and a player such as Sarr could thrive by running in behind and stretching the opposition.
There is the obvious financial muscle that United have that could now make a move for Sarr hard to pursue, but the 24-year-old should certainly consider which environment he would be able to play his best football in.
There’s a really good feeling around Elland Road at the moment with the players clearly enjoying their football and demonstrating their desire to play for the Yorkshire club.
The comeback victory against Wolves demonstrated the character of the squad and should be an environment where players want to play their football.
Sarr is proven and the Premier League, but probably needs one more move before trying to force his way into a top-six side.
Leeds does seem an ideal fit for him so let’s hope United fail in their attempts to sign the Senegal international.
