Leeds United close in on Glen Kamara transfer from Rangers after late push ahead of Middlesbrough and Coventry City
Leeds United are “closing in” on a deal to sign Glen Kamara from Rangers after “stepping up their efforts” in the past 24 hours, according to the Scottish Sun.
The newspaper reported on its website Tuesday (22 August) that Daniel Farke has been “desperate” to bring the Finnish international midfielder in, and while he faces late competition still from Middlesbrough and Coventry City negotiations are now at an “advanced stage” with “frontrunners” Leeds.
Rangers are reportedly set to make a “bumper profit” on the former Dundee man as he heads towards the exit door for £5.5million, after paying just £50,000 in 2019.

Farke currently only has Ethan Ampadu, Archie Gray and Darko Gyabi as central midfield options on his first-team squad.

Whites fans have largely had to wait through a full-scale exodus from Elland Road this summer, with Tyler Adams moving to Bournemouth over the weekend as the latest departure.
They have only seen four new arrivals come the other way, but after Angus Kinnear suggested that the American midfielder would be the final exit ahead of incoming signings a deal for Kamara could now be the first of a few before the deadline.
Having had to name substitutes benches short of the full number and containing two goalkeepers more than once so far this term Farke badly needs the reinforcements.

Ampadu’s pick up has been crucial, as has Gray’s emergence, but at 17 he can hardly be expected to man the centre of the park for an entire Championship season.
If the Whites are about to add Kamara to the group imminently the 52 cap international will immediately become the senior man in the group and give the manager some vital depth.
With how the window has gone this summer the late competition from the two Championship rivals who have also been in talks must be taken seriously to avoid another Max Aarons situation, but it appears this transfer is on the brink.
In other Leeds United news, the club want to sign another target who has fallen out with his manager and is set to leave.
