Ezgjan Alioski rejects new Leeds United contract
Ezgjan Alioski has rejected a new contract that has been offered to him by Leeds United, according to Mirror journalist David Anderson.
Writing on The Mirror website, Anderson reports that the 29-year-old is “set to go” in the summer with Turkish side Galatasaray interested in signing him.
At the weekend, The Athletic reported that Alioski was offered a new contract by the Whites earlier in the season but he hadn’t responded to it yet.
However, it now seems as though the North Macedonia has made an ultimate decision on his career at Elland Road.
Is that it?
Alioski has been an ever-present for Marcelo Bielsa this season, playing 34 times in all competitions.
The former Lugano ace has scored three goals and supplied one assist in those outings, as well as having several really strong performances.
However, on Saturday, the left-back had an absolute stinker as Leeds lost 2-0 away at Brighton and Bielsa – rightly – hooked him off at half-time.
Could that be it for Alioski? Has he rejected that contract offer out of anger?
At the weekend, it seemed as though there hadn’t been answer but now, after being substituted off 45 minutes into a horror show, he suddenly has.
Galatasaray seems to be beckoning for Alioski and while we would rather he went elsewhere, we’re not going to judge the North Macedonian for moving to Istanbul.
He’s done a lot of good at Elland Road and will always be remembered for the role he played in our return to the Premier League.
And, of course, we’ll never forget Gjanni Cam.
In other Leeds United news, this British senior player will leave Elland Road next month after a major decision by Bielsa.
