Carlton Palmer: Kalvin Phillips would leave Leeds for Tottenham if they came calling

Leeds United star Kalvin Phillips was recently linked with Tottenham Hotspur, and ex-Whites star Carlton Palmer believes he could be very tempted to join them.

According to TuttoJuve, Spurs alongside Juventus, Manchester City and Real Madrid are all keen on the England international midfielder after his fine showing at the ongoing European Championships.

Apparently, the North Londoners have been impressed with Phillips, and Palmer reckons turning such a big side down could be very hard for the Leeds hero.

“If Tottenham come knocking, no disrespect to Leeds United, I think Leeds United are a massive club. I’m a big admirer of Leeds United,” the former midfielder turned pundit told This is Futbol.

“But if you’ve got an opportunity to go and play at Spurs, you’re going to want to leave Leeds to go and play at Spurs.”

Not exactly Palmer

While Tottenham are without a doubt a big club, we do not see them capable of luring Phillips away.

At the moment, the managerless side are struggling to establish themselves in the top-six, finishing the last Premier League campaign in seventh place.

We do not see the Leeds star leaving Elland Road this summer, but let’s say he does, it is definitely not going to be to Spurs.

Marcelo Bielsa’s men ran out 3-1 winners at home when both sides met in May, and not many will bet against Leeds getting a win next time they meet.

Despite only recently returning to the Premier League, we are looking to establish ourselves in the European places and breathing down the necks of the likes of Tottenham.

Some top additions are on the way this summer, and we would be strongly challenging for the top-six next term.

Admittedly, Phillips is being watched by a number of scouts at Euro 2020, but he would definitely be willing to spend next season at Elland Road given the huge project on the cards.

Spurs have absolutely no chance.
