‘Worth more than our club’ – Many Leeds fans react to reported enquiry into ‘league-changer’ ace
Leeds United are not messing about with their preparations for returning to the Premier League this summer.
The Whites have already agreed a big money deal to sign Valencia forward Rodrigo, and it would appear that their spending isn’t going to stop there either.
According to Il Messaggero over in Italy, Leeds have enquired about no less than five players from Marcelo Bielsa’s old club Lazio.
That list consists of key talents Luiz Felipe, Jordan Lukaku, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Luis Alberto, and Ciro Immobile.
And while even the most optimistic of Leeds fan would tell you that securing all five is a near impossibility, there seems to be one name in particular which has caught supporters’ attention.
Milinkovic-Savic is a top, top midfield talent who is currently being courted by the likes of Champions League finalists PSG.
Most fans have already acknowledged that there is little to no chance of him ever turning up at Elland Road, but the scope of the Whites’ ambition is blowing them away nonetheless.
The Serbia international has been described as the “complete midfielder” by Sky Sports reporter Anton Toloui in the past, and only last summer he was supposedly being lined up as a potential big money capture by Manchester United.
That is the calibre of talent we’re talking about here, and the fact that Leeds are even being mentioned in the same conversations as players like that, no matter fanciful the rumour may seem, just goes to prove how far this side has come under Marcelo Bielsa in the past two years.
This one will never happen, but at the very least, it’s nice to be able to dream again.
